Jason MacDonald’s passion for music plays out in a driving acoustic fashion with energy, wonderful storytelling and a warm personality that connects immediately with his audience. With award nominations following his two recordings  and most recently a 2009 Top Honours in the Indie International Songwriters Contest plus an Independent Singer-Songwriter Assoc. nomination under his belt, Jason is about to add another chapter to the rich musical heritage of his Cape Breton home.

Jason crafts songs with the same artistry and tradition of the greats. He hones his skill and knowledge with the professional relationships he has established with many of the leading songwriters and performers in Eastern Canada today. Jason has interviewed many of them for his radio program ” Meet the Music” on Cape Breton’s The Coast CKOA 89.7FM.

Performing with some of the best in the industry hasn’t hurt Jason’s abilities either. Jason Has shared the stage with Michelle Wright, John MacDermott, The Ennis Sisters, Lennie Gallant, Gordie Sampson, Dave Gunning, JP Cormier,Matt Minglewood, Mary Jane Lomond, Ron Hynes, Bruce Guthro, Matt Anderson, Charlie A’Court, Rylene Madison, and Jimmy Rankin to name a few.

Jason’s debut CD “Leave my Mark” was released in 2002 followed by “The Day” in 2005. Both were recorded at award winning Lakewind Sound Studio where Jason made his debut as a producer along with veteran Fred Lavery.  Critically acclaimed, the releases led to nominations and showcases at Nova Scotia Music Week , East Coast Music Awards and Canadian Country Music Awards.

In 2009 Jason expanded his fan base in the United States with a New England tour and performances at  Milwaukee Irish Festival. In 2011 he showcased at East Coast Music Awards, performed throughout Atlantic Canada, as well as a tour  of New England, and release of a 6 song EP titled “On The Way”.

This year, in addition to doing interviews for his radio show, he has found himself in the recording studio again. You can find him throughout the East Coast playing songs from his new recording “Got a Ways to Go”.
