I was born and raised in the Laurention Mountain area of Quebec, Canada. As far back as I can remember, I have been captivated by music and in particular the guitar. When I was 10 years old, I got hold of my first instrument, which was purchased at a junk shop for $1.50. Somehow, we managed to fix it up enough to make it playable and I was determined then and there that I would teach myself to play. There were no music teachers anywhere close to us, so along with a Mel Bay “Learn to Play Guitar” book, and a couple of records of Chet Atkins and John Williams, I persisted on my own. Later on, Bruce Cockburn, would become one of my strongest influences, and from there, a host of great fingerstyle players have had an impact on my playing and composing styles.
